Well the monsoon is well and truly here. You may have seen on CNN etc that there's floods in Mumbai (which we got caught up in) and it doesn't seem much better else where. Work has started to slow down, as we can't get out of our guest house room. The rain is just making anything impossible. It's frustrating as it means our days off are getting eaten up, sitting in rooms looking out at the rain. We have to do a certain things in each area, and so when it's not raining we do that. Then the rain comes and we do nothing :( Hopefully things will get better, but the monsoon is supposed to last until September. Seems like a long way away at the moment!
Hope you're all well xxx

Hi Ruth, sorry to hear about the crap weather! Hope this doesn't make it more painful but it's not raining in southern India! Here in Kovalam, Kerala we've had very little rain and half of what we've had has fallen in the night time which is jolly decent of it!
ReplyDeleteIf you need to check on volunteers down this way I'd say now is the time to do it.
I hope you don't mind me asking but what's the name of your organisation? Where are the placements and how are the young people coping with these conditions? Maybe you could put the answers in a blog entry.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Clive
Ruthy!
ReplyDelete"Single and ready to mingle?" LOL.
Fantastic to read how things are going over there, keep it up! So great to speak the other week as well, my first big cheque as a playwright has INDIA! stamped all over it, (Well, in my mind...otherwise it wouldn't be valid) But we'll speak soon and make the arrangements.
Saw the floods on CNN myself, and was thinking of you. Hope you're holding up in the monsoon ok, it all sounds very romantic from where I'm sat but I can imagine it's very different when you're actually there.
Hope you're well, look forward to reading more.
Speak soon!

Hi Ruth - glad to hear it is all going well. Actually it sounds really exciting. The rain here cannot match Mumbai but it is getting closer with nearly 48 hours amost continuous. Have you identified any possible fairtrade opportunities?
